Abstract:
Value based education is the main basis for the development of any society and nation. For the society, education is its life element. In ancient cultures, the development of moral qualities was an essential part of our education system. There was a complete arrangement for the physical, mental and spiritual development of the students. In which moral education was also included. Spiritual and value-based education has declined in educational institutions across the world in the last century, as only academic progress has been emphasized. The result of this is that today we have a generation in front of us which is totally lacking in moral values. In the presented research study, the researcher has done a detailed study on the role of spiritual and value education in schools. A study has been done on how the system of value/spiritual education has been described in the National Education Policy (2020) and in conclusion it was found that not only by philosophers and educationists but also by various commissions constituted in the Government and India and In the reports of the committees, special emphasis has been laid on imparting value/spiritual education.
