ABSTRACT
The objective of this study was to examine the impact of specific yogic practices on the psychological measures of Athletes. A total of sixty participants, aged 13-19 years, were recruited from the Sports Training Center of the Sports Authority of India, Sangrur, Punjab. The participants were engaged in a structured yogic training program for duration of three months, during which they were also permitted to continue their regular sports training activities. Psychological parameters, including anxiety, depression, and stress, were assessed using validated questionnaires administered both prior to and following the intervention period. Statistical analyses, encompassing the computation of mean, standard deviation, and paired t-test at a 0.05 significance level, were conducted to evaluate the impact of the yogic practices. The results demonstrated a significant reduction in anxiety, depression, and stress levels post-intervention, thereby affirming the beneficial effects of yogic practices on the psychological well-being of adolescent sportspersons. These findings underscore the potential of yoga as an effective psychological intervention in enhancing the mental health of athletes.
